If not now…

The image of women proposed by television and advertising has always been a topic widely debated. Legs “scandalously” shown by the black and white TV has gone to the generous curves of the “Drive In” of the ’80s, and finally to the present, with the B side of the girls of the “Striscia”. Today, however, the phenomenon has slid into a cultural drift. The female body produces exaggerated ostentation of deviant myths, which inspires thousands of young people and young. He realized even the Financial Times, while the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women, United Nations reported that in Italy “… these behavior are the cause of the disadvantaged position of women at work and in politics. .. “. The girls of today tend to qualify, even in their curricula, more for their physical skills for cultural or professional titles. To adapt to the aesthetic model proposed by the media, the 60% of the middle school girls are willing to contend to slimming treatments up to the excess of resorting to cosmetic surgery. Parameters that humiliate and subordinate the female figure, devalued the talent in favor of the exaltation of the body and beauty.

A cultural disintegration that strikes even in the professional, with the effect of reserving to women lower salaries for equal work performed and lower career opportunities and access to top positions. Furthermore, the system promotes abuse and violence, both in public and private sectors, leading to real forms of commoditization, even illegal: it is the extreme phenomenon of trafficking and prostitution. Slowly seems to serve down the streets of housewives, retired women and workers, real women, very different of the discourage and unworthy media representation of the female gender. The Committee “If Not Now When?” has taken a big step in protest against the current system in which sex becomes a trading currency. The serious cultural thing is that many girls now consider normal use their body and blinking continuously as a means to “get” (Bernardini de Pace). Recent news reports alarmed: adolescents are willing to provide “sexual performance” in exchange for a phone charger, promotion to a university exam, the recruitment company, to become the subject of a bribe or exchange in a transaction “politics”. Offering paid sexual services has been a frequent practice, even marginalized. Today, however, the disposition to commercialize their bodies has become a widespread cultural mode and universally accepted, is favored both to the offer (the woman), and of the request (the man). “It’s all the fault of the chick,” the newspaper said a year ago. “Excuse me, in what sense?” asked Michela Marzano, The Republic, to Vittorio Feltri, during an episode of the Infedele. A year later, Italy is still do. “We are the jailers pass for victims, it is feeling guilty the woman again. After stealing their soul. After being reduced to “disposable bodies.” It is high time to react. Now is the time to transform the anger into action. “If not now … Now, as Don Andrea Gallo writes in his latest book: the idea of ??women in its essence is expressed by Paul, “There is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus”.
