It is time to have an intelligent holiday

In search of the economic and energy supremacy, and the monopoly of water supply and raw materials, often making industries, especially the multinationals, organizations without scruples, in search of maximum profit at minimum cost. In the globalization Era, the increase of the human and commercial relations, the social and technological changes, the political and global interaction, they need strengthening of the culture with regard to the social responsibility. A dutiful responsibility in a new world order, so that the countries is going through a phase of rapid growth, instead of succumb, can benefit from increased to a greater network of trade and assistance for the cultural democratic and economic growth. In this point of view, the micro credit, the echo-solid market, the responsible tourism can build many forms of supportable aid, in which each of us can do its part.

The tourism industry moves more than 5 billion people each year and provides employment to millions of workers (one every fifteen employees around the world). With the development of transport and communications, is destined to grow exponentially over the next few decades, promoting further the mechanisms that lead to globalization. With these “numbers” it would be possible to build a truly responsible tourism, capable of supporting the least developed countries, a social and economic justice, training and education, culture, politics, thus improving access to market and the living conditions of disadvantaged producers. But many organizations and environmental groups led state in tourism in this form a useful tool to integrate the development policies and defense of the values of territory even in developed countries, primarily in Italy. The centrality of the local host communities and his right to be a protagonist, the interaction between that and the passengers, the respect of the environment, of the ecosystem and the biodiversity, they will supply everyone a chance to development almost so far unknown. And in a context of economic global crisis, that tourism can represent for Italy, one of the essential pillar of re-growth and development. Just think that Italy is the fourth largest tourist revenues in the ranking of the leading countries of the world, the second in Europe.

Several socio-economic studies try to analyze this phenomenon in terms of its actual feasibility, the need to reduce environmental impact, sustainable business. Collaboration between the World Tourism Organization (WTO), the Program for the Environment (Environment Program) United Nations and the International Ecotourism Society has made it possible to analyze the past ten years in several countries, including France, Spain, Germany, Great Britain , Canada and the United States, the proportions of the phenomenon. In the Italian market, in 2002 was detected a total turnover of tourism ecological reasons amounting to 2% of the total tourism market, with potential annual growth of 20%. If the prospect of growth will be confirmed in the coming years will be increasingly important to distinguish between the tourist operators who believe they can actually reduce inequalities among people with the help of sustainable and inclusive tour operators who seek only profit from a new segment. And then, in the same way, in which we decide to buy a product according to the demonstration of the social responsibility to the company that it produced, also in the choice of our journey or our holiday we will choose the honesty and the human and social sensibility to who offer it or who present it.

If it always is our responsibility for what happens in the time we live in, is the collectivity that is pushing the world towards the abyss of profit at the expense of human rights or to the environmental and economic sustainability for all the beautiful areas of this land. And then let’s move, but it intelligently, so that our trips will help our development and growth and peoples we visit.
